Our Story

proudly woman-foundedFounded by Alissa Bayer in Austin, Texas in 2006, milk + honey began with a clear vision: to create a place where people could pause, reconnect with themselves, and feel genuinely restored through intentional self-care. What started as one thoughtfully designed spa has grown into 10 locations across the country — each rooted in the same belief that how we care for ourselves shapes how we move through the world.
the meaning behind our name
The name milk + honey was inspired by stories of Cleopatra, whose rituals symbolized nourishment, beauty, and care. These rich ingredients have long represented abundance and well-being, a reminder that self-care should feel comforting, restorative, and deeply life-giving.
rooted in Austin
milk + honey began in downtown Austin in 2006 after founder, Alissa Bayer, saw an opportunity to create a different kind of wellness experience — one that brought together restorative treatments, clean products, thoughtful design, and genuine care in a way that felt deeply human.

In 2014, Alissa launched the milk + honey product line out of a desire to create clean, elevated products that could be used both in our treatments and at home. Every formula is thoughtfully chosen to reflect our standards: intentional ingredients, effective results, and rituals worth returning to.
