From a jazz festival to a football game, here are our top six can't miss Houston events for August 2017.
August 1: Feast like a king, during Houston's Resturant Weeks. Starting August 1st, this month-long event features pre-fixed menus from over 200 of the city's best restaurants. Best of all, 100% of the proceeds from this event will go directly to the Houston Food Bank.
August 5: As they say in New Orleans, laissez les bons temps rouler! Treat your ears to the sounds of drums, French horns, and other brass instruments at the Houston International Jazz Festival. This year, bands from both Texas and Louisiana are battling each other in the Showdown Throwdown.
August 17: B-29, B-29. Grab your mat, lawn chair, and your favorite bingo marker for Blanket Bingo. From 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Historic Market Square Park, come enjoy a night of family fun with bingo, music, and more. Just don't forget to yell out BINGO!
August 19: Ready, set, shop. On Saturday, August 19 and Sunday, August 20 shop your favorite boutiques at Flea at Silver Street. Along with handcrafted jewelry, candles, and home decor, this two-day shopping extravaganza features a pet adoption event.
August 23: Root, root for the home team as the Houston Astros take on the Washington Nationals. Starting at 7 p.m. at Minute Maid Stadium, get ready to see huge homerun hits by baseball stars like Bryce Harper, José Altuve, and others.
August 31: Consider this the battle over Texas. Kicking off at 7 p.m., the Houston Texans, helmed by rookie quarterback Deshaun Jackson, will take on the Dallas Cowboys at the NRG Stadium.
