Meet the Austin-Based Illustrator We Love

Describe your illustration style in a few words.

My illustration style mostly consists of bold colors with an emphasis on lettering. I also love to play around with textures, shading, and different retro styles to make illustrations pop! I create a lot of my own textures to use in my work, gravitating mostly towards watercolor looks, and gritty, noisy textures like grains and papers.

What's your favorite medium for illustration?

I am absolutely glued to my iPad pro. I use the Procreate app to do most of my lettering work! It's the best for digital illustration. But if I am doing a full illustration, I'll sketch it in Procreate first and then bring it over to my computer to finish up some of the details.

After trying the milk + honey products, what's your favorite?

My favorite milk + honey product is the Body Cream Nº08. I am a lotion fiend because I have dry, dragon skin, and it's the perfect texture for a moisturizer. Not oily at all and I don't have to reapply it every ten minutes! Plus it smells great. I'm definitely adding it to my lotion collection (I have some type of hand cream on almost every surface in my house and every bag I own).

If you could have dinner with anyone alive or dead, who would it be?

Tina Fey. She is my absolute idol. I wanna take her out to a nice spaghetti dinner.

You're Austin-based like us, so aside from milk + honey name some of your favorite favorite local businesses.

I love going to Book People for a book reading/signing, an event, or just for a delicious lavender lemonade while I browse.

But I would be remiss if I didn't mention Sweet Ritual. I probably go get ice cream there at least once a week, they recognize me when I walk in, it's embarrassing and awesome. Austin has become this epicenter for dairy-free ice cream shops which is fantastic, but Sweet Ritual is by far the best one!

What's your go-to karaoke song?

You Oughtta Know. I channel Alanis BIG time.

What's your sign?

I'm a Sagittarius. But I really need you to know that I am a Scorpio rising with a Capricorn moon because WOW is my chart accurate with all that going on.
