5 Ways to Get the Glow Up Your Skin Deserves
The skin glow-up is real — no social media filters necessary — and the best part? It doesn't require an ultra-restrictive diet, skincare regimen, or costly treatment to achieve a brighter, clearer complexion. Here are five ways to get the glow-up you deserve.
- You've heard this one before and we're here to tell you again: get 7 to 9 hours of sleep every night and drink (at least) 8 glasses of water daily. Not only does logging in the Zs help your entire body function better, but a good night's sleep also boosts blood flow to the skin, helping to bring about that natural glow. Sleep deprivation can lead to dull, dry skin as well as increase retention of pockets of fluid (under-eye bags!) and trigger inflammation, like acne, psoriasis, and eczema.
- While we're on the subject of sleep, invest in a silk pillowcase. The soft, hypoallergenic fabric tends to pull less at the skin, helping to minimize the appearance of lines and wrinkles. If you don't have a silk pillowcase (and don't plan on springing for one, which is fine!), remember to wash your pillowcase regularly. It's a catch-all for dust mites and other airborne allergens as well as a resting place for your skin's purged impurities.
-
Focus on glow-up foods. We're not here to tell you how to eat or imbibe — everything in moderation, right? Instead, boost your intake of certain foods and ingredients that promote clear, healthy skin. Salmon, avocados, kale, turmeric, carrots, tomatoes, blueberries, oats, walnuts, almonds, eggs, spinach, yellow peppers, safflower oil, and sweet potatoes all make the cut.

Try a few facial massage moves. Massage reinvigorates and stimulates the muscles in your face and promotes healthy blood flow — all of these things are great tactics for toning and brightening the skin. Remember to always massage in an upward and outward motion. You can also do this with a jade roller!

Apply a face mask two to three times weekly. Our favorite for glowing, revitalized skin is the milk + honey Pink Clay Masque. It's packed with antioxidants, which help to effectively clear clogged pores while toning, invigorating, and balancing the skin. Organic aloe vera leaf juice and helichrysum oil hydrate and nourish, helping to improve the look of redness. And it's super gentle on the skin, making it the perfect mask for all skin types, especially those with dull, tired, or aging skin.
